Rajesh Vihar is an Army Welfare Housing Organisation property for serving/retired members of the Army and their widows. It is named in the memory of Nainital’s Kargil martyr Major Rajesh Singh Adhikari, MVC - 18 Grenadiers - 2 Mech Inf, (25 Dec 1970 - 30 May 1999). Rajesh Vihar Welfare Maintenance Society was formed on 10th June 2014, under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860, to maintain, manage and administer the colony.
Rajesh Vihar is located on the South West bank of the azure lake Khurpatal, on the Nainital Kaldhungi highway, a mere 22 kms from Kathgodam Railway Station through the Nainital Bypass. Khurpatal is a village in Nainital under the Lake Development Authority, and Rajesh Vihar is 10 km from the Mall Road.
